Creative Commons Attribution 4.0
Unless otherwise stated on an individual article, published articles are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0).
Under the CC BY 4.0 licence, users may share and adapt the published material for any lawful purpose, including commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the source is cited, a link to the licence is provided and any changes made to the material are indicated.
The full terms of the licence are available at:

The licence applies to the article content except for third-party material specifically identified as being subject to different copyright or licensing conditions.
Copyright
Authors retain the copyright of their published work, subject to the non-exclusive publishing rights granted to the Journal for publication and dissemination.
Copyright information will be clearly indicated on the published article and associated publication files.

The Journal does not operate a subscription-based access model for its scholarly articles and does not place published articles behind paywalls.
Readers are not required to create an account or provide personal information merely to access or download published articles.
Article Processing Charges
Open access for readers
Open access is supported through the Journal's publishing model, which may include an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.
Where applicable, APCs are charged only after acceptance and are completely separate from editorial and peer-review decisions.
The Journal does not charge readers for accessing published articles.
Details regarding applicable APCs, waivers and other author charges are provided separately on the Article Processing Charges page.
Waivers & Equity
The Journal aims to ensure that publication charges do not unnecessarily prevent authors from disseminating quality research.
Where applicable, APC waivers or discounts may be available to eligible authors, including authors experiencing genuine financial hardship or authors from eligible low-income countries.
Waiver decisions are independent of editorial and peer-review decisions.
The availability or non-availability of an APC waiver does not affect the scholarly evaluation of a manuscript.
No Embargo
Immediate availability after publication
The Journal does not impose an embargo period on its scholarly articles.
Once an article is formally published, the Version of Record is immediately available under the applicable open licence.
Authors may also make permitted versions of their work available through appropriate repositories without an embargo.
Third-Party Material
Open access applies to the original scholarly content published by the Journal.
Where an article contains third-party material, including photographs, figures, tables, datasets or other material that is not owned by the author, the relevant copyright and licensing conditions will be identified where necessary.
Third-party material may be subject to separate permissions or licence terms.
Digital Preservation
Long-Term Access
The Journal is committed to maintaining long-term access to its published scholarly content.
Digital Preservation
Published articles are digitally preserved through appropriate electronic archiving and backup arrangements.
The Journal will maintain and develop suitable long-term preservation arrangements to ensure continued access to published content in the event of changes to the Journal's publishing operations.
Accessibility & Discoverability
The Journal is committed to making scholarly research accessible to researchers, students, institutions, practitioners, policymakers and the wider public.
Published articles are made available in standard digital formats and are intended to be discoverable through scholarly search engines, indexing services, repositories and other appropriate academic discovery platforms.
Open Access & Peer Review
Open access does not reduce editorial standards
All manuscripts remain subject to the Journal's established editorial assessment and peer-review procedures.
Publication decisions are based on scholarly quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance, ethical standards and contribution to knowledge.
The payment of an APC, where applicable, does not influence the peer-review process or guarantee acceptance or publication.
Commitment to Open Scholarly Communication
The Journal supports the principle that scholarly research should be freely accessible, responsibly licensed, widely disseminated and available for lawful reuse.
The Journal will continue to maintain policies that support transparency, accessibility, author rights, responsible licensing and the long-term preservation of the scholarly record.
Opening Research to the World
The Business and Economic Review is committed to making scholarly research freely accessible while protecting author rights, supporting responsible reuse and maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.
